Then, apply for workers’ comp coverage and explore the Justworks tools. You can complete your enrollment once your company is approved for workers’ comp.
Once you’ve completed enrollment, we’ll get you up and running immediately.
First, set the date you’ll launch Justworks as your PEO: Either the 1st or 16th of the current or upcoming month, when your payroll first runs. Then, work with your dedicated onboarding manager to activate your account, close your existing account, set up benefits, and set up employees in the platform.
You can choose between monthly or annual billing for Justworks.
If you’re on monthly: You’re billed for every active employee on Justworks on the second payroll of the month.
If you’re on annual: You’re billed upon account activation for the number of employee ‘seats’ you’ve elected to buy for the year. You’ll see the number of seats used each month as a line item on your invoice.
Our plans are flexible. They’ll change with you!
If you’re on monthly: You’ll be billed for the actual number of W-2 employees you pay through the platform each month.
If you’re on annual: You’ll pre-purchase a set number of employee ‘seats’ for the year. Each month, the number of seats used is deducted from that balance. If you run out, you can simply buy more, or extend past one year if you don’t use them all.
On Plus: Yes. You will be billed at the 'Basic' plan rate for part-time employees who you indicate work on average fewer than 30 hours per week. Discounted seats are not benefits-eligible. You will be billed at the 'Plus' plan rate for part-time employees who you indicate work on average 30 or more hours per week.
On Basic: No. For full-time and part-time employees, you will be billed at the 'Basic' plan rate.
Yes, you can switch between Basic and Plus plans.

Two things factor into a mid-year switch: Tax obligations and benefits. And we’re here to help.
Because Justworks is an IRS-certified PEO, a mid-year switch would not reset your federal payroll tax obligations. Your state payroll tax obligations will depend on the state. If you’re enrolled in benefits, note that deductibles and FSA accounts may be affected. Reach out anytime for help with the switch.
